Work Package 1 – Coordination

D1.09 Annual Public Report

Report of project activities conducted during the first year.

Work Package 2 – Market and Target Group Study

D2.02 Market and Target Group Study

Abstract:
The purpose of the EUCAM project is to apply communication and content technology to promote both learning and knowledge management. The purpose of Work Package 2 (WP2) is to develop a market study based on project requirements. This study was developed using both primary (interview, questionnaire) and secondary (desk) research methods. It was found that the automobile industry is a global undertaking, making continuous demands upon its workers. The need for flexible, highly skilled workers is expected to grow rather than decline over the coming years, even if the industry itself is experiencing a consolidation phase at the moment. EUCAM can be considered a technologysupported learning systems, so familiarity with or exposure to such systems is an important prerequisite
for their effective implementation. Moreover, the introduction of such as system should show cost savings, at least in regard to traditional training processes. Given the global scope of the industry, of course, multilinguality becomes an important issue, for learning requirements, educational and professional training requirements, and learning styles vary greatly from one culture to the next, from one language community to the next.

Work Package 3 – Intellectual Property Rights, Copy Rights and Business Model

Work Package 4 – Specification of multilingual services and development of a content framework

D4.01 Use Case Report consisting of detailed description of relevant scenarios

Abstract:
This report describes the relevant use cases for the development of the EUCAM technical infrastructure. After defining the important terms to be used and the methodology for documenting the use cases, the actors and profile types are identified. Thereafter twelve (12) basic use cases with related subprocesses are defined and described in detail. Three further cases are considered in order to take into consideration specific requirements related to multilinguality. A chapter on machine technology technology, including four (4) case studies is included. A further chapter on documentation and content generation is also included. Lastly, a closer review of the LTC Communicator as potential solution for meeting language / translation requirements is included.

D4.02 Overall EUCAM architecture

Abstract:
This report describes the overall EUCAM architecture. It includes descriptions not only of the generic component architecture, but also describes in more detail the various software modules that are included in the system. Additionally, information flows are specified in support of the architecture, and the information units to be exchanged are identified and defined. Use of the training data editor (TDE) is described as the method for importing training data from 3rd party planning tools. The use of PLS is described as the training content management system for the workers on the shopfloor level, showing the training data imported from the TDE. The exchange of data between the TDE, PLS and the LTC communicator as well as between the TDE and 3rd-party systems is also specified. Finally, hardware and network requirements are identified.

Work Package 5 – Mapping Scheme for Skills to Local Situation

D5.01 Study about intercultural workers’ competencies in technical communication and appropriate ways of certification

Abstract:
This deliverable analyses the potential for differences in learning cultures and skills acquired through qualification profiles in the potential target countries for EUCAM, as well as ways to avert potential problems arising from such by implementing trainings of intercultural competencies for the necessary user groups. It serves as a preparatory study for the following deliverables in which training contents will be adapted to local situations. It thus has the purpose of establishing potential differences resulting from differences in educational biographies (the so-called national qualification profiles) and learning cultures which might impact upon the acceptance and use of EUCAM.

D5.02 Manual for intercultural trainings including specification of pilots

D5.03 Manual for beginner trainings

D5.04 Manual for implementation support trainings

Abstract:
Deliverables D5.02, D5.03 and D5.04 constitute the training manuals to be used in the trainings of the EUCAM Coach, the EUCAM users (production workers) and the trainings for intercultural competencies aimed at the EUCAM Coach and the EUCAM implementation team. In order to ensure successful implementation of the EUCAM learning infrastructure at the production sites, it is imperative to comprehensively train multipliers such as the EUCAM Coach and the EUCAM implementation team at the DaimlerChrysler plant in Mannheim. The training manuals will form the basis for the trainings to be conducted during the test runs within the EUCAM project.
